Waycross is a summer camp and  year-round  conference center. We welcome groups that seek leadership development, spiritual growth or educational advancements. Everything from afternoon meetings to weekend conferences to week long retreats.

Waycross Camp Goals

 

The goals of Waycross Camp are:

  1. To live and be a part of a faith-based community as modeled by the Baptismal Covenant and Christ’s life and teachings.

  2. To foster the development of individuals’ life skills

  3. To beresponsible member of God’s creation

  4. To have fun and be creative

 

The goals of Waycross Camp are:

 

1.  To live and be a part of a faith-based community as modeled by the Baptismal Covenant and Christ’s life and teachings.

Our goal will be achieved if each participant:

  • Demonstrates an understanding of compassion, acceptance, love, and respect for others through the camp experience.

  • Identifies an experience of serving others.

  • Identifies with and is an active member of the larger camp community.

  • Recognizes how they perceive and have a relationship with God.

 

2.  To foster the development of individuals’ life skills

Our goal will be achieved if each participant:

  • Demonstrates the ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others though diverse group experiences.

  • Identifies a positive experience of teamwork and cooperative activity.

  • Recalls a moment of group responsibility and decision making.

  • Demonstrates the ability to reflect on themselves, their experiences, and their environment.

  • Develops an understanding of and demonstrates the transformative power of compassion.

  • Is comfortable being themselves and demonstrates and respects the free expression of ideas, thoughts, and feelings.

  • Identifies and honors personal and group boundaries.

 

3.  To be a responsible member of God’s creation

Our goal will be achieved if each participant:

  • Recalls having an experience with living in a primitive, natural setting.

  • Demonstrates an appreciation of the environment.

  • Identifies an experience with God through interaction with nature.

  • Recognizes and practices environmental care and sustainability.

 

4.  To have fun and be creative

Our goal will be achieved if each participant:

  • Recalls times of laughter and joy.

  • Recalls a time for unstructured play.

  • Demonstrates creative expression by making something.
