**New! Naturalist Volunteer: Do you like to hike, bird watch, fish, identify wildflowers or hunt mushrooms? Waycross is looking for Naturalists to lead walks, talks and activities for guests. **New! Noxious Weed Volunteer: Identify and remove noxious weeds from the Waycross property. Experience in identification desired but not necessary. Christian Hospitality and Outreach
Outreach Team: This opportunity is designed for alumni and Waycross friends who are interested in promoting its mission and goals to parishes, the community, youth, interested service groups, etc. Speakers will be given talking points, multi-media presentations, brochures and supporting information, and are asked to spread information to key groups and leaders. Guest Host or Hostess: Ensure that guests experience a warm and welcoming environment by greeting and orienting visitors, checking in guests, answering questions, providing information and Christian hospitality. Training provided. No experience necessary. Helpful skills include knowledge of Waycross property and surrounding area, public speaking and customer service skills. Property Historian: A volunteer is needed to research the history of the Waycross property including the former orchard, golf course, and canning factory. The goal will be to develop informational materials for guests to learn about the interesting history of the property. Contact Scott for more information.
Waycross Photo Archivist: Waycross has many boxes of old photographs that we would like to make more available to alumni, campers and guests. The Photo Archivist would help us locate, protect and display photos of Waycross campers, guests and property. A volunteer is needed for sorting the hardcopy photos and assisting with scanning select photos. Contact Scott for more information.
Food Service
Food Service Assistant:Assist kitchen staff with adding that special something to each meal. This could include being creative with desserts, setting the mood in the dining room, leading prayer before meals, food preparation, meal service and helping with cleanup. Office and Administrative
Office Assistant:Provide clerical and phone assistance 1-3 days per week. Duties include answering phones, responding to emails, filing and general office duties. Contact Scott Rudd, Associate Director at scott@waycrosscenter.org for more information.
Marketing and Fundraising
Development Mailing Assistant:Provide assistance in preparing large mailings for the Development Office. Assist with copying and labeling, assemble and collate mailing packets, stuff and seal envelopes/packets for distribution. Time commitment: 1-4 days per month. Content Developer: Assist with development and posting of website content and materials. Write articles and updates for the website to keep it current and informative. Other tasks include photo selection and frequent review of website for issues and improvements. Strong writing skills a must. This volunteer task can be performed at home. Grounds Assistant: Maintain, install and water flower beds. Beautify the property by completing a variety of projects.
Handyperson:Perform preventative maintenance and repairs as needed. Must have good knowledge of basic methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in grounds keeping as well as safe working methods and procedures.
