Directions to all Waycross Facilities
From the north through Indianapolis toward BloomingtonTake I-465 to State Road (SR) 37 South toward Bloomington. Just north of Martinsville, turn left (east) on SR 252 to Morgantown. In Morgantown at the stop sign, turn right (south) on SR 135. Follow SR 135 to Bean Blossom. In Bean Blossom, just past the McDonald's ShopWorth grocery store, turn right on State Road 45. Follow SR 45 to the stop sign at the railroad tracks. Turn left at the stop sign and continue to follow SR 45 through Helmsburg. About two miles past Helmsburg, SR 45 makes a sharp left curve. At that curve turn right onto Branstetter Road. Follow Branstetter Road about one-fourth mile to the next stop sign. Go straight onto Bear Creek Road (See continuing directions below)
Shortcut from Martinsville to Waycross (not recommended in adverse weather conditions)
This route will take you up and over the ridges between Martinsville and directly to Waycross. This drive will include about 5 miles on winding and hilly gravel roads, approximately 20 minutes. Turn left at the stoplight at Mahalasville Rd /Ohio Street Intersection. Look for the Circle K Shell gas station and Dairy Queen on your left at this corner (this is the next stoplight after the Wal-Mart intersection). Follow Mahalasville Rd. approximately 5.5 miles. Turn right at the “T” onto Bear Wallow Road. Follow Bear Wallow Road (turns into Bear Creek Road) approximately 5 miles to the first stop sign at the intersection of Richards Road and Bear Creek Road. Turn left and drive approximately 100 yards to Waycross Conference Center entrance, or turn right to get to Summer Camp, Main House and/or Hickory Hill Retreat House.
Shortcut from Morgantown to Waycross (not recommended in adverse weather conditions)
In Morgantown, turn onto 135 South/Marion Street toward Nashville. SR 135 will curve to the left, bare right onto S. Marion Street. Turn right onto Bloomington Pike and continue onto S. Lick Creek Road. Keep left to stay on S. Lick Creek Road. Turn right at Richards Road (there will be a small bridge to cross), the road will turn to gravel. Continue on Richards Road for approximately 2.5 miles crossing over Carmel Ridge Road. Waycross will be on your left.
From the southwest through Evansville and Bloomington
Take State Road (SR) 57 from Evansville northeast to Washington and turn right (east) on U.S. Highway 50. Follow U.S. 50 going toward Bedford. Just before Bedford, U.S. 50 becomes a four-lane highway and also is joined by SR 37. Before Bedford, take the SR 37 North exit toward Bloomington and Indianapolis. Follow SR 37 to Bloomington. Turn right on State Road 46 (the last Bloomington exit) and follow SR 46 around Bloomington to SR 45 North. (The first time you see a sign for SR 45 will be while you are still on SR 37 — don't take that exit.) Turn left onto SR 45 North and follow it to Trevlac. At the sharp right curve in Trevlac, turn left onto Bear Creek Road (it's more like going straight instead of taking the curve and there will be a brown and white sign for Bear Creek Ministries) Drive over the railroad track and stay straight. Follow Bear Creek Road to the first stop sign at Branstetter Road. Turn left to continue on Bear Creek Road. (See continuing directions below)
From the southeast through New Albany and Jeffersonville
Take I-65 North to the State Road (SR) 46 exit at Columbus. Take SR 46 west toward Nashville. In Nashville at the second traffic light, turn right (north) on SR 135 which goes through downtown Nashville. Follow SR 135 north to Bean Blossom. Turn left onto SR 45 in Bean Blossom just past St. David's Episcopal Church. Follow SR 45 to the stop sign at the railroad tracks. Turn left at the stop sign and continue to follow SR 45 through Helmsburg. About two miles past Helmsburg, SR 45 makes a sharp left curve. At that curve, turn right onto Branstetter Road. Follow Branstetter Road about one-fourth mile to a stop sign at Bear Creek Road. Go straight at the stop sign onto Bear Creek Road. (See continuing directions below)
Continuing Directions to Waycross
Follow Bear Creek Road about three miles to Waycross (road will turn to gravel). Landmarks include Lutheran Hills Camp on the right and then the entrance to Dudley Gallahue Valley Camp on the left. When you arrive at Waycross, follow the signs to the facility hosting your event. You will find directional signs for Hickory Hill Retreat House, Youth Lodge, Camp, and Conference Center and office. Please check in at the Conference Center upon your arrival.
