Each year, the Tri-Parish Coalition (Trinity, Bloomington; St.Paul’s, Columbus; St. David’s, Bean Blossom) celebrates the Diocese of Indianapolis’ relationship with our companion dioceses of Bor, Sudan and Brasilia, Brazil. Eleven guests (five from Brasilia and six from Bor) are scheduled to be in our area June 17 through July 6, 2009. Traveling with Bishop Nathaniel (Bor) and Bishop Mauricio (Brasilia) will be 9 other clergy and lay people.
The Tri-Parish Coalition (TPC) will be hosting a forum with our guests from Bor and Brasilia on Tuesday, June 30 at Waycross Camp and Conference Center, Morgantown and highlighting the partnership of the three dioceses. Bishop Cate will be in attendance for this event also. All parishes in the Diocese of Indianapolis are invited to participate. The program will be in two parts:
The primary reason for a weekday program is to allow the campers and leaders from Waycross time to interact with our sisters and brothers from our companion dioceses. This will encourage the next generation in their thoughts of global reconciliation and social justice. Many of our youth will be meeting people from these countries for the first time – it is important to encourage your campers and children to cultivate questions and expand their personal growth as our future generation of leaders.
These discussions will include the latest information about the Millennium Development Goals as related to Bor, Brasilia and Indianapolis; including education, equality for women, poverty and hunger, environment, etc. Understanding of the relationships between the three dioceses will help us keep the last commandment from Jesus Christ foremost in our minds and hearts. - “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (NIV, Mark 12:28-31)
Come; join us for fellowship, encouragement and education with and about each other in our journey through life.
