Available Positions for Summer 2017:

 

Assistant Director

Furthers the mission and ministry of Waycross Camp by providing direct support to the Camp Director. This includes, but is not limited to: assisting in the planning and execution of staff training; Counselor supervision and support coordination; safety and risk management; program support; and providing direct support to other camp staff. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older, hold (or be willing to obtain) First Aid and CPR certification, have previous camp experience, and must be willing and able to directly supervise staff and campers. Camp leadership experience and experience with American Camp Association standards and accreditation is a plus.

 

Leadership Program Director

Furthers the mission and ministry of Waycross Camp by coordinating and supervising leadership-based programs at camp. This includes supervising support staff and training and supervising participants in the Counselors-in-Training program. This position may also provide direct support to the Camp Director by planning and coordinating specialty camp programs (Leaders in Training, Canoe Camp, and Hickory Hill Wilderness Camp). Applicants must be 21 years of age or older, hold (or be willing to obtain) First Aid and CPR certification, have previous camp experience, and must be willing and able to directly supervise staff and teenage Counselors-in-Training. Experience with outdoor adventure and youth leadership development is a plus.

 

Adventure Director

Furthers the mission and ministry of Waycross Camp by providing oversight to all outdoor adventure programming. This includes the ropes course, archery and mountain biking programs, and outdoor camping overnights. The Adventure Director will be responsible for training staff in assigned program areas, monitoring maintenance and upkeep of equipment and program sites, and keep all necessary written records and logs, and support Counselors and support staff in the preparation and leading of overnight programming. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and have (or be willing to obtain) First Aid, CPR, and ropes course certifications. Applicants must also have previous camp experience, with experience in position-specific program areas preferred.

 

Creative Arts Director

Furthers the mission and ministry of Waycross Camp by providing oversight to all creative arts programs. This includes planning activities for and supervising the arts and crafts shop, as well as planning and supervising creative arts activities in other program areas. The Creative Arts Director is also responsible for monitoring maintenance and upkeep of equipment and the arts and crafts shop and training Counselors and support staff in creative arts activities as appropriate. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and hold (or be willing to obtain) First Aid and CPR certification. Previous camp experience or art education experience preferred.

 

Counselor

Furthers the mission and ministry of Waycross Camp by directly supervising and leading programming with campers. Counselors have the most direct contact with campers, living in cabins with campers and a co-counselor. They will be responsible for facilitating the campers’ experience by planning and leading program activities and providing for the health and safety of campers. Counselors must be 18 years of age or older and have (or be willing to obtain) First Aid and CPR certification. Applicants must be willing to work with children and staff in a camp setting. Lifeguard certification a plus (training available if needed).

 

Counselor-in-Training

The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program provides young leaders a first look at what it is like to work and live in a camp environment. CITs provide direct support to Counselors and support staff in a variety of capacities, including leading activities with campers. Applicants must be 15 years of age or older, have completed the Waycross Leaders in Training program, submit an application, and participate in a pre-summer interview. CITs serve as volunteers.
